Independent Religion
The Baha'i Faith is recognized worldwide as an independent religion. Baha'is believe in one God, the creator of the universe Who provides humanity with continuous guidance that will never stop. The needs of the world of humanity are ever-changing, and without such ongoing guidance we would be still living as if we were in the dark ages. Humankind is now like a university student who cannot continue to study at the elementary school level, but rather builds on the learning acquired over the years and moves forward with advanced education necessary for his or her level of maturity. This is why the world is in constant need for progressive revelation and guidance from God.
After Christianity, the Baha'i Faith is, geographically, the second-most widespread religion in the World. Among many of its progressive teachings, it promotes the unity of God, the unity of religions, the establishment of world peace, the equality of men and women, the elimination of all forms of prejudice, universal education, the independent investigation of truth, the elimination of extremes of poverty and wealth and the use of a universal language. Currently there are over seven million Baha'is found in at least 218 countries and 116,000 localities worldwide.
